2021 Programs

Information published in the 2021 Commencement programs reflect a snapshot of students’ tentative eligibility for graduation with honors. This data was finalized in March to prepare for the 2021 Commencement.

Official notation of cum laude, magna cum laude, or summa cum laude is reflected on the SDSU transcript and diploma, and is based on achievement when all courses for graduation are completed (including grades for the final semester’s work).

Graduation with honors is granted to undergraduate students who achieve high grade point averages. Excellence is recognized at three levels, based on the SDSU GPA and the overall (cumulative) GPA (including both SDSU and transfer units):

  • Cum laude (3.50-3.64)
  • Magna cum laude (3.65-3.79)
  • Summa cum laude (3.80-4.00)

Students graduating in the spring and summer term are tentatively designated as eligible for graduation with honors (e.g. cum laude, magna cum laude, and summa cum laude) if both grade point averages meet required standards at the end of the fall semester.
