COVID-19 Information

Bag Policy & Prohibited Items

To expedite your entry into Viejas Arena and to reduce staff contact with guests' belongings, it is recommended that you do not bring a bag. If you must bring a bag, we highly suggest a clear plastic, vinyl or PVC tote bag. Bags can be no larger than 16"x 8" x 16". No backpacks are allowed.

Please arrive early and be patient as we work to ensure a safe environment. All bags are subject to search prior to entrance and inside the facility.

Prohibited items include, but are not limited to: large bags/backpacks, umbrellas, banners and signs larger than 20”x20”, balloons, weapons, alcoholic beverages, glass containers, noisemakers of any kind, non-service animals, skateboards and roller shoes. Visit the Viejas Arena A-Z Guide for more information.

Facial Coverings

All guests aged two and older will be required to wear a face covering that covers both the nose and mouth, unless actively eating or drinking, regardless of vaccination and booster status.

Health Verification

Viejas Arena follows all current California Department of Public Health guidelines, San Diego County guidelines, and San Diego State University guidelines for Indoor Mega Events.

Under current guidelines, all guests aged 2 and older are required to present either proof of a full COVID-19 vaccine series or a negative COVID-19 test within one day of the commencement ceremony. All individuals eligible for the COVID-19 booster will be required to show proof of the booster in order to qualify as having completed the COVID-19 vaccine series. If you received two doses of the Moderna series more than six months prior to the ceremony date or of the Pfizer series more than five months prior to the ceremony date, or if you received a Johnson & Johnson vaccine more than two months prior to the ceremony date, you are eligible for a booster.

If you choose to enter Viejas Arena by showing a negative COVID-19 test result, please note that SDSU requires COVID-19 tests be taken within one day prior to the ceremony in order to comply with current state and county guidelines. Guests age 18 and over will also need to provide a matching photo ID with their proof of vaccination or negative test results. Only written reports of COVID-19 testing conducted by laboratories or schools will be accepted as proof; photos of home tests are not acceptable.

SDSU Students, Faculty and Staff

San Diego State University students, faculty and staff, in accordance with the campus COVID-19 policy, will be able to present their HealtheConnect verification to gain entry to Viejas Arena. Please note: Unvaccinated faculty, staff and students must have negative test results on file with a test collected within one day prior to the ceremony in order to comply with state and county guidelines.
