GUEST ADMISSION TICKETS
Candidates whose applications are approved for graduation will have the opportunity to claim guest tickets for their commencement ceremony at Viejas Arena. All guests who are 1 year of age and older are required to have a ticket to attend commencement. The only exception to this rule are babies under the age of 1 who must be seated on an adult’s lap. Commencement guest tickets are all reserved seating. Guests must sit in the seat locations listed on their tickets.
The number of tickets available to each student is determined by the number of candidates graduating in each college. The ticket allotment by college will be available in late February on the commencement website.
The ticket allotment by ceremony is as follows:
Arts and Letters - 6
Business - 5
Education/IS3D - 6
Engineering - 10
Health and Human Services - 6
Professional Studies and Fine Arts - 6
Sciences - 5
Commencement tickets are provided at no charge to all graduates. SDSU does not authorize the sale of complimentary tickets.
On Monday, March 21, graduates will receive an email to their sdsu.edu account with a unique link and password to Ticketmaster that will provide the graduate with one-time-only access to claim their commencement guest tickets. Graduates may claim their commencement guest tickets online via Ticketmaster beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22 through Friday, April 22 at 10 p.m.
Admission Tickets for Guests With Varying Mobility
Viejas Arena is a top-loading venue (bottom level or mid level entry is not permitted). All guests will be at the top of each section upon entering the venue. Row 36 is the arena’s accessible row and can be used by guests who have varying mobility (e.g, guests who cannot walk up and down stairs, guests who use a wheelchair, etc.).
Graduates who need seats for their guests with varying mobility will be able to select two (2) tickets in the accessible row (row 36) of the arena and then select their remaining tickets as close to the tickets in the accessible row.
There will be a limited number of wheelchairs available for guests to use at no charge at the beginning of each commencement ceremony. Guests using these wheelchairs need a wheelchair ticket obtained in advance by the graduate. If the guest does not have a wheelchair ticket, they should check with the Ticket Office or Guest Services on the day of the ceremony to see if there are wheelchair tickets available before obtaining a wheelchair.
Additional Ticket Distribution
On Tuesday, April 26, graduates will receive an email to their SDSU.edu account with a new unique link and password to Ticketmaster that will provide the graduate with one-time-only access to receive two (2) additional commencement guest tickets.
Please note, these additional two guest tickets are not guaranteed to be located near the graduate’s initial commencement guest tickets.
Graduates will have the opportunity to claim their two additional commencement guest tickets through Wednesday, May 4, at 10 p.m., as long as tickets are still available.
All commencement guest tickets will appear in the graduate’s Ticketmaster account as a mobile ticket beginning Friday, May 6, at 3 p.m. At that time, graduates can transfer the mobile tickets to their guests. In order for guests to receive their tickets, they must have a Ticketmaster account and accept the transfer.
Please review these step-by-step instructions on transferring guest tickets.
It is strongly advised that guests have their mobile ticket downloaded to their phone’s wallet application before arriving on campus to avoid any internet connectivity issues at the venue.
Students who do not have a mobile phone should contact the Viejas Arena Ticket Office
at (619) 594-0429 or [email protected].
